Captain William Overton

Born at "Maiden Adventure" in Louise County, Virginia; December 4, 1839. Overton graduated from the Virginia Military Institute in 1860. On May 1, 1861 Overton was appointed 2nd Lieutenant in Co A, First Virginia Battalion. On May 20, 1862 Overton was promoted to 1st. Lieutenant of Company B and promoted to Captian of the company on October 11, 1862. Surrendered at Appomattox Court House on April 9, 1865. Overton died at his home at "Prospect Hill" in Louisa County on January 17, 1923. He is buried at St. John's Cemetery.
