What is it?

The Explorer Academy is a chance for the Explorers to experience what it is like to go to the Fire Academy.  This academy is open to all Tri-County area Explorer Posts.  They attend during the summer.   When they graduate the academy they are given a real State Volunteer Firefighter test (written and practical).  If they pass the test, they are issued a 150 hour Volunteer Firefighter State Certificate.  This certificate allows them to become a Volunteer Firefighter anywhere in the State of Florida.  They also receive High School credit in a non-academic class.

The Explorers must all wear academy uniforms, pass all tests, and complete all the hours in order to pass the academy.  Each morning they all perform P.T. exercises.  They have in-classroom training as well as outside hands-on training.
