I am ecstatic to announce that this year’s Carp Classic was the biggest and best ever.
Seventeen teams participated in the day-and-a-half event. Unfortunately, five teams did
come out of it with a big fat zero. I can, of course, make fun of them; Pat and I weren’t
one of those teams.
Most of the bait used was corn, however, I know at one angler who
gave it a go with doughball. The smallest fish weighed in was a hair under five pounds
with the biggest fish being twelve and three-quarters. The average size of the fish this
year was approximately ten to eleven pounds. It was quite a close race, and it came
down to the last weigh-in, with leadership changing hands a few times during.
Check out
below for this year’s standings. The weight represents the weighing of four fish per
team, the two biggest per day.
I would like to thank all the sponsors for this year’s tournament, especially:
Coleman, Budweiser, and the Dew Drop. I hope we can count on their future support
also.
We have a tentative date set up for our Tenth Annual Carp Classic, and that will
be June 24th and 25th, 2000. We will also be celebrating our anniversary at the same
time. Pat has promised for out tenth anniversary, something special. He hasn’t told me
yet, and knowing Pat, he will keep it a suprise for everyone. I am still in favor of the
neon-green and hot-pink, tiger-stripped jet boat. It sure would be ugly, but I also think it
would be quite hilarious for the winning team to ride around in.
