Whale watching in Moreton bay has long been enjoyed
from the mainland and islands, but recently, visitors have taken to the water. The
whales pass north on their annual migration from Antarctica to their calving
grounds in warm waters of the Great Barrier Reef. There are two whale watch
cruise operators in Moreton Bay Tangalooma whale watch cruises from the
Tangalooma wild dolphin resort and whales Akarma, which operate a season
from June to November.Whales Akarma ,skipper says Moreton bay offers whale
watching experiences equal to any in Queensland. We have a 99per cent success
rate of spotting whales during our cruises . We spot around the northern
point of Cape Moreton ,and during their southern migration,we spot around
inside the Bay.There is also land based watching at Point Lookout on North
Stradbroke island ( Queensland's most easterly point) ,long recognised
as one of the best vantage points to watch the whales.
