We met at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 1, 1999 Troop 165 met with Troop
16 and Troop 7 at Memorial Park, Tybee Island, Georgia. Our mission:
Wilderness Survival Training. We left the Tybee Marina by boat (hosted by
the Tybee Island Marine Rescue Squadron) and landed on Little Tybee. It
was rough the first night, but we got it together. The next day we started the
day off early. We woke up at 5:00 a.m. We scouted for food and by noon we
had enough food for all 70 of us. The cook prepared the food for us.We had
rice, salad, pine straw tea, blue crab with a special gravy made from clams
and oysters. After our meal, some relaxed on the beach, while others gathered
more food. We also had a good meal for dinner including fish this time. After
that we went to bed. They let us sleep late Sunday morning. After everyone
was awake,we packed up and headed for the beach. We were glad we were
going home. It was definitely survival training.
