Common Name: Golden Toothless Trevally. (Gnathodon speciocus). Kim Cheo in Hokkien or gerung-gerung in Malay.
Description: Loveliest of the trevally family, with golden yellow striped body. Has no teeth.Grows up to 50cm length, weighing over 2kg. Usually found in small schools, in waters of up to 60 metres depth. This is one strong fish to contend with when caught on line. It uses its streamlined body well to its advantage often fighting till the end.
Tips: Use 15lb leader with 25lb mainline on single hook, no 1/0. Baits can consist of prawns or squids. Clams also yield results.
