Xanthonotus). Tauhu Hoo (beancurd fish) by the Hokkiens and Pisang-pisang
by the Malays.
Description: Colourful fish, bluish purple along the back, slightly pink across the lateral line area, and yellowish-silver towards the belly. The fins are in bright yellow.Grows to 25cm length.Also a shoaling fish, found in rocky areas and near reefs, often in coastal waters.
Tips: Feeds on small crustaceans and squids. Fish strips also yield results. Use Mustad No5 hooks on 10lb line. It is not a strong fighter however.
