Common Name: Queenfish (Scomberoides lysan). Tua Pek Kong Hoo in Hokkien or Talang in Malay.
Description: Longish silver, with
five or six luminous spots. Grows to a maximum size of 50cm.Strong
swimmer which inhabits reef areas, sometimes straying into estuarine
waters. Schooling fish when young but the bigger ones are said
to be loners.
Tips: Feeds on fish mainly, and you can use live fish suspended from a balloon float or cut fish strip in the berley trail of chopped fish cubes. This spectacular sports fish will give your tackle a run for its money. Spinners and shining lures have also taken this fish.
