HUNTING IN IDAHO

I got my first real bow at Christmas back in 1955. That's when my love afair with hunting and archery began. Since then I have laid down the bow and picked up back up again on several occations. Each time I stop though, I know that I will return sooner or later. Hunting eventually led to my becomming a wildlife biologist. I also use rifle, shotgun, and blackpowder. However, my real passion at the present is taking my son hunting. He bagged his first deer in the fall of 1997 and is looking forward to a long hunting career.

But you probably didn't come to this site to hear me ramble on about my life and times, so what I have to offer are a few quick links to help you plan a hunt in Idaho.

Your most important resource will be the Idaho Department of Fish and Game. Their homepage is constantly expanding and has a wealth of valuable material.
Now, I work for the BLM and depending on what you are after there is some good hunting on the Public Land. Still, most of my own hunting is done on U.S. Forest Service land, especially the Sawtooth National Forest. Most of the time I find Forest Service land more aesthetically pleasing and that is a big part of the beauty of hunting.
