Welcome to my Pilbara pages. I hope to share with you some of my life in one of the harshest, but also one of the most beautiful places on this Earth. After nearly 18 years living in and around Karratha, I still wonder at the stark contrasts between the Dampier Archipelago and the semi desert which surround us.
The 42 islands of the archipelago are home to a huge variety of game fish and provide 2 very popular forms of relaxation in boating and fishing. And for divers, the coral reef is a virtual treasure trove of colour and marine life.... Inland, the landscape is rugged, dry and at first glance looks to be quite barren. But in fact the red iron ore rock and the yellow spinifex grass provide a wonderful camouflage to the native flora and fauna, which flourish in the almost constant drought conditions.
