THE NORTHEAST WORKING EQUIPMENT GROUP had a booth at the 1998 Beneath The Sea scuba show
at the Meadowlands Convention Center in Secaucus, N.J., on March 20-22, 1998,
and performed diving demonstrations in the diving tank supplied by FantaSea Scuba of Milltown, N.J.
Using an air compressors outdoors, the group dived a variety of gear including
David Hill's SuperLite 17 equipped with an underwater video inspection camera loaned by Dryden Diving of Swedesboro, N.J.
and Jim Folk's U.S. Navy MkV helmet mated to David Sutton's red Viking vulcanized rubber dress.
Here (above and below) Kevin Ives is diving the MkV while Jim Folk is using the SuperLite 17 on an Amron dress.
THE UNDERWATER VIDEO CAMERA was used both on Dave Hill's yellow SuperLite 17 and Jim Folk's red SuperLite 17.
Here Derek Wippert (left) and Wayne Jones tend Jim Folk in Dave Hill's hat.
Note that the Amron/Nokia vulcanized suit Jim is wearing has a collar that seals directly to the SuperLite helmet.
On Sunday Harrison Ong from Hawaii dived Folk's SuperLite 17 on a neck dam (above right)
with his O'Neill wetsuit, but the 46-degree water made a chilly venture for any wetsuit diver.
Kurt Terry from Atlanta (at left, below left) was warm in his drysuit with his Aquadyne DMC-7 demand helmet.
Harrison was much more comfortable diving Folk's MkV (below right)
.
THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT in SuperLite diving was Joel Klammer
at 6-foot 3-inches in his Viking drysuit and Harrison Ong
at 5-foot 6-inches in his wetsuit. Joel is working on his
Masters Degree at Columbia University, while Harrison is an
oil company human relations specialist in Honolulu, Hawaii.
