THE NORTHEAST DIVING EQUIPMENT GROUP had a booth at the 1999 Beneath The Sea scuba show
at the Meadowlands Convention Center in Secaucus, N.J., on March 26-28, 1999,
and performed diving demonstrations in the diving tank supplied by FantaSea Scuba of Milltown, N.J.
Using K-bottles and scuba tanks, the group dived a variety of gear.
Here (above) Jim Folk is diving his SuperLite 17 on an Amron dress,
and Dan Butler repeated his stunt (below) of opening the faceplate of Folk's MkV underwater.
AFTER DIVING THE MkV and opening the faceplate, Dan put on the Navy Mk12 rig.
Dave Hill was a bit jealous (right) of Dan's celebrity status and did a bit
of not-so-subtle upstaging while wearing his SuperLite 17 and a Mk12 jumpsuit over his Viking drysuit.
Dan's brother, Mark Butler, (left) also dived the family Mk12.
THE GUEST SPEAKER at Beneath The Sea was Jean-Michel Cousteau, who visited the NEDEG booth
along with Leslie Leaney of the Historical Diving Society - USA. He graciously posed (above) for the "gang photo."
Left to right are Dave Hill, Jim Folk, Gene Ritter, Jean-Michel, John Strahan, Bob Rusnak and Greg Platt.
Jean-Michel then autographed Gene Ritter's photo album (below)
The display case holds Jim Folk's "Sea Hunt" and G.I. Joe memorabilia.
