My name is Clarence Ragland. I have been in the R/C Aeromodeling sport for over 25 years and I have spent a conciderable amount of them promoting the the hobby by teaching others. On this page I will describe a "breakthrough" in flight instruction which is concidered to be much safer than the "buddy-box" system, we are now familiar with.

With the support of the school where I teach my fledglings and the entire community, I do my best to rejuvinate interest in the sport and at the same time help young adults take on leadership roles and build confidence in thier ability to to do just about anything. Scoff if you will but I have proven my techniques time and time again. If anyone would like to learn more about my techniques I would be more than happy to teach or speak with anyone who is interested. I am not advertising any product or service here, this web site is here so that I can share my training technique with the rest of the Aeromodeling community in hopes that through my technique we can rejuvinate the sport!

(Aeromodeling Club Organized to Recruit Newcomer Students)

From little acorns mighty oaks grow. After many years of attempting to help halt the decline of R/C Aviation , I finally struck pay-dirt when young Chad Taylor (age 17) told me of the high interest that many of his fellow Newfane, N.Y. high school students have in R/C Aeromodeling. Chad was one of my flying students, who became a skilled R/C Pilot within just 4 lessons. Using my "breakthrough" in the art of R/C flying instruction, most of my student fliers will earn their solo wings in the average of 5 lessons.

A.C.O.R.N.S. will be open to all, with the understanding that ours is a club for "Beginners and Instructors" only. Meaning, the only purpose of in being a member of our club is to learn how tp fly and then become a flight instructor. "NO HOT-DOGS ALLOWED". Once a student learns how to fly, he or she is welcome to become an instructor. If they choose not to teach, they are free to fly elsewhere or join any other club in the area.

We don't discriminate againt A.M.A. fliers or veteran R/C Pilots, just so long as they understand that the only purpose of our club is to mass produce new R/C Fliers.

Chad and I are the only instructors to-date, but everyone we teach is also learning to be an instructor at the same time. This is the only way, as I see it, to really contribute to R/C Aeromodeling growth.

When someone wants to learn how to fly all he or she has to do is simply call or show up at the feild and they will immediately recieve a minimum of 30 minutes of high quality flight instruction. This is a guarantee by the way. The first time student will most likely get in at least one take off and landing (assisted) on his or her first or second lesson.

The entire school and comunity are enthusiastically behind our efforts. Teacher Henry Kurston and Newfane High's Principal, Norm Kopeck, (not opposed to taking a flight for himself) are behind us 100%. Sports Flyers of America, Inc. was our choice as an insurance provider because of it's excellent coverage and the open mindedness of it's leaders.
