Level: all
How to get there: Take the ferry out of Horseshoe Bay to Langdale. Follow Highway 101 north through Gibsons and Sechelt. Once past Sechelt, drive until you get to the sign for Halfmoon Bay - turn left. Stay left - the road curves around south again. You'll go past a firehall on the left, keep going until you get to the park. JUst before there, turn right down the road and into the parking area adjacent to the boat launch.
Facilites: Washrooms. Boat launch. Air fills at shop in Sechelt.
Hazards: Boat traffic on north side of island. Log booms overhead.
How to dive this site: Gear up and enter off the beach. Swim out to the left side (south end) of the island. Descend down and follow base around. Try not to ascend on the north side of the island; if you must, stay close to the rocks all the way in.
What to see: Lots of cracks and crevices make great hiding places and homes for octopus and wolf-eels - look hard though, because they aren't easy to spot. Lingcod, cabezon, and greenlings also call this home, and do countless sculpins and flounders. Schools of perch swim by, Dungeness and red rock crab scramble to cover when divers swim by. Spider and decorator crabs too. And nudibranchs of all shapes, colors, and sizes. Sea cucumbers. Seastars. The odd Irish Lord, too.
