We enjoy hearing your comments and questions, however, we usually get the same questions over and over.
Here are some of the most commonly asked questions we get:
Q. How long does it take to build a CarryCraft kayak?
- Approximately 6 working hours for either the 8' or 10' kayak.
However, you need to allow at least 24 hours for the glue to dry, and several hours for paint to dry
between applications.
Q. How much does it cost to build a kayak?
- The materials for a 8' will run about $65.00,
or $75.00 for a 10' kayak. A lot will depend on the type of paint you use,
and your choice of seat and paddle. The costs can be reduced by building
more than one kayak because any extra plywood and canvas can be used. The
plans include a "Materials Planning Sheet" to help you estimate the quantity
of materials, and the cost per kayak before you start.
Q. What tools will be required?
- You only need standard hand power tools such
as jig saw and power saw. You will also need sandpaper, screwdriver, and
a small disposable paint roller to apply the glue. A complete tools list
in included with the plans.
Q. What are the kayaks built from?
- The hull and deck panels are built from ¼"
ACX plywood wrapped with 12 oz. canvas. Rib and floor structures are built
from ¾" plywood or chip board.
Q. Where can these kayaks be used?
- A CarryCraft kayak is a single person, soft
bottom boat designed for slow moving rivers or small lakes. They are NOT
designed for white water or fast currents.
Q. What if I am not happy with the plans, or my
kayak?
- Just send the plans back in good condition and we'll send you a full refund.
You can't go wrong with a guarantee like that!
