Life is good! A new Wegman's just opened up in Northern Virginia. Now we can get Perry's ice cream at home too!
Liz and I got married at Thanksgiving in 1997. Check out the
Wedding Photo, the
Just Married Dunebuggy picture, and the Honeymoon Kiss.
Here are some pictures of the family/kids:
Liz is from Alberta, Canada - way up North. Her family runs a market garden up in Fort McMurray. Liz now drives school buses for Loudoun County Virginia. Robyn and Tyler get to ride along, so they have a lot of fun together. She has a twin sister, Julie, and an older brother, Nathan. Here's a link to Nathan's
web page.
I grew up on the water. Started working on ships, but now I work as a software engineer (building interactive web applications).
I'm currently a volunteer at the
Leesburg Volunteer Fire Company. My interests in fire fighting came from my grandfather, "Spike", who was a volunteer fire chief in Irondequoit, NY (Near Rochester) many years ago.
Kayaking: I LOVE kayaking. I do a little sea kayaking, but mostly whitewater kayaking. I also have a Mad River Explorer canoe so I can take the kids out on the river. Lizzie joins me on the river when she's not playing hockey. We're members of the Monocacy Canoe Club. One great thing about the D.C. area is that there are a lot of paddling options.
Well, the Hurricanes provided a bit of fun on September 10th - All the rivers gauges went straight up! I had to leave work a bit early to paddle the Potomac (Little Falls at 7.6 and rising). It was awesome playing in the rapids, we just had to watch close for debris (logs, tires, barrels, and the occassional dead tree!). Saturday I drove out to the Savage River. Wow! It's just an awesome run. Small/narrow river, but nearly continuous class III rapids for the entire few miles.
Summer 2004 news: I updated the kayak fleet by selling the inazones and picking up some
Jackson Kayaks - a 4Fun for myself and a Fun1 for the kids. Jackson Kayak web site.
Pictures of the kids playing in our pool...
I called
Mitchell Paddles in NH to get Robyn a custom 150 cm paddle (see our June '04 and new kayak pictures).
Raychel and Marty, and myself (taking picture) on Fish Creek in NY (at flood stage).
