February 6, 2000 - The annual Blue and Gold Banquet is a
time when Cub Scout families get together to celebrate the scouts' achievements for the
year. This year we recognized acheivements and advancements in every scouting rank.
Congratulations to all scouts and their families for doing their best! Twelve Second Year Webelos earned the Arrow of Light Award, the highest achievement in Cub Scouting. To receive this award, the scouts accomplished 8 badges in areas such as Citizenship, Fitness, and Readyman and participated in programs involving mental skills, technology, and the outdoors. Congratulations to these scouts: Ryan B., Matthew B., Michael B., Johnathan C., Nicholas H., Kyle N., Paul P., Mark S., John S., Eric S., Michael T., and Sean W. One of the highlights of the banquet is the Father-Son Cake Bake Contest. This year's theme was (of course!) the Millennium. Needless to say, we had many very outstanding creations. The winners of this year's contest were: First - Sean W. - "Computer" High bid - Nicholas H. - "2000 Pieces for 2000 Years"
All proceeds from this event support the Baltimore Council Friends of Scouting. Pack 606 would like to thank everyone who made this year's banquet a success, including: The Owens family for cooking up a terrific spaghetti dinner. The Boy Scouts in Troop 424 for preparing and serving this special event. The Laurel American Legion Post for donating the use of their hall. Mark from Mad Science of Baltimore for the exciting entertainment. The Tiger Cubs for presenting tonight's flag ceremony. The Bears for making the table centerpieces. The Wolves and 1st Year Webelos for making the "goodie cups" on the tables. All parents who helped with set-up and clean-up.
