E-mail from the Pack Master Well, the kids are back in school and its time for Pack 606 Fall Family Camping. The dates are set for September 29-October 1 at Broad Creek Boy Scout Reservation in Aberdeen. For those who have not been before, Pack 606 camping is a Family Event where you provide a tent, sleeping bags etc and the pack will provide the food. The whole family is welcome. We head up to Broad Creek (which is about an hour and fifteen minutes north on 95 (without traffic). Activities begin at 10 AM on Saturday so that you can drive up on Saturday morning (and not have to fight traffic on Friday night). We get a site with a cabin (so that we have running water) and a stove upon which to cook. We plan great day for the kids (hiking, playing, camp fire, SMORES!!!!) we stay overnight and finish up on Sunday morning with a quick breakfast and “pack out”. There is often time for families to have some time to do some hiking or special family types of things as well. Dens will also have some time to work on some of their achievements. If you really enjoy camping, you are free to go up on Friday night (if you wish to brave the traffic) and begin your experience a little early. I like to call it camping light as we get a chance to get outdoors, enjoy some fun in the sun (and sometimes rain) and do so within an hour and half drive from home. If you are interested in going, mark your calendars and fill out the paper work and send it to me (Kris Britton, 8508 Wispy Branch Court, Laurel, MD 20723) with payment. The cost will be $12 a person (Adults and school age children). Children under 5 are free. To facilitate planning for food, please let me know if you plan to attend and how many will be in your party by September 27. Checks should be made payable to Pack 606. In the next week or so, I will mail out details of the activities for the day and directions to the site. Let’s go Camping !!!! Yours in Scouting, Fall Camping Registration Form (Word document)
