On January 8th, the boys of Pack 606 joined boys from the National Pike District at the McKeldin Area of Patapsco State Park for this year's Klondike Derby. This event consists of a variety of stations with activities relating to the Klondike Gold Rush of 1896-1898: "Herding Reindeer Ashore," "Wade Ashore!", "Staying Warm in the Klondike," "Loading Supplies," "Whiteout at Chilkoot Pass," "Customs Station at US-Canadian Border," "Cross the Raging Yukon," "Panning for Gold," "Klondike History - Tales Difficult to Believe," "Ulcer Gulch," and "Assay Office." |
