Pack 606 "We Remember" 1998

US Flag May 22, 1998 - "We Remember":  The 11th annual "We Remember" ceremony was held on a beautiful warm evening.   Many Scouts and family members from the Arrowhead and National Pike Districts placed over 1,000 flags on the graves of the honored dead at Baltimore National Cemetery between 6:30 and 7:15PM that evening.  It was an inspiring example of patriotism and teamwork.  At 7:15 PM members of several Veterans groups, including several American Legion and VFW posts, Maryland Chapter Korean War Veterans, and Maryland Chapter Vietnam War Veterans, presented a program consisting of a color guard, patriotic songs, a keynote speech on the importance of observing Memorial Day, and "Taps".

"On this Memorial Day 1998, we salute those brave Americans who have served this nation in foreign wars, especially those who paid the ultimate price in defense of our country.

They answered the call to preserve our American values and way of life.  Their self-sacrifice and bravery remains an inspiration to all our citizens, and the best example of the true character of our great nation....

This Memorial Day we ask all Americans everywhere to take a moment to remember those who have faithfully served our country in the armed forces.

To all of our nation's veterans - especially those still suffering from the pain of wounds inflicted in battle - and to the families of the fallen, we offer our heartfelt thanks on behalf of a grateful nation.   (Veterans of Foreign Wars)
