Founded in 1961, Troop 50 provides a wide range of activities for today's scouts. During the school year, we hold weekly troop meetings and monthly campouts. During the summer, we go camping for a week. Any boy may join, provided he is less than 18 years of age and meets one of the following requirements:
Although parental participation is not required, we do encourage it. Once a month, we ask all parents to attend our commitee meetings, which are held the same time and place as our regular troop meetings. Most of our important decisions are made at these meetings. It is also important to note that our troop does not ask for any money, exept for special, optional activities. Our funding comes from collecting and recycling returnable bottles and cans. All members of the troop participate in the bottle & can drives, which bring in money and encourage environmentally sound practices in our community. Throughout the year, Scouts earn points by participating in activities. At the end of the year, they can use these points to bid for great stuff at our annual auction. |
