The summer campout is the yearly highlight of our program. We spend six to seven nights camping each summer. Our destination changes every year, but is usually one of three places: |
Scout Camp gives an opportunity for the scouts to work on advancement, especially merit badges. This is similar to a week-long camporee, with many troops at one camp. There are competitions and activities available. One of our favorites is Camp Buckskin, at Curtis S. Read Scout Reservation, in the Adirondacks. |
Canoe Trips are the most difficult to plan and run, but offer the most rewarding scouting experience. Our favorite place is the Adirondack Mountains. The troop must divide into two or three groups of no more than twelve people in each group due to legal restrictions within the Adirondack Park. Groups will follow different routes of varying ability. |

Gettysburg, PA is a new campout we tried in July 2001. We toured the battlefield for a few days, and then canoed to a public campground. We also spent two days at Hershey Park. The trip concluded with a rafting trip on the Delaware River. |
