Here are pics of DC 4444 which was fitted with a 5000litre fuel tank, resulting in the displacement of the batteries to the running board and the main air reservoir being placed in "the boot". The only problem was it didnt fit, so the boffins at the shops had to make the resulting bulge in the back wall !!.




I found out what this van is for.
According to a Tranz Metro employee in Wellington, this is the new Dynometer car. Snazzy huh!!



This Dc has been fitted with trial windows (same as on the DQ locos mind.). This is a result of the crash at Te Kauwhata where the loco ended on its side.
