Registration begins 7:00 pm - Hound Hunting Demo - Marty Beard, Bismarck, ND. Marty has over 18 years experience with trail hounds. His demo will include discussion on proper equipment and techniques used, and join Marty after dark on an actual coon pursuit! |

7:00 am ~Breakfast (Bring your own sausage) 8:00 am ~Beginners Trapping Program - Our featured instructors include "Rusty" Trosen, Mark Monti and Randy Seifert. Learn the basics from three experts! You will learn about the history of trapping, proper equipment to use, and the best sets to make for the species of furbearer you're after. These guys have a bag of fun things lined up for the youth! Bring your boots- you may be in the mud and water. 8:00 am ~Trapping supply companies booths open - There will be loads of trapping equipment available for you to stock your inventory, courtesy of M & M Fur Co. of South Dakota, Fur Country Lures (John Grahm) of Montana, and Schmitt Enterprises of Minnesota. 8:00 am ~Snaring Demo - Gary Willman from Almont, ND will help you in setting up a "super snare line". Gary's coyote snaring ability is second to none, so don't miss this one! His demo will include info on draw stations, snare types, set location, and much more! 9:00 am ~Bobcat Trapping Demo - John Grahm from Jordan Montana. John needs no introduction when it comes to his knowledge and experience running an effective predator line. John's demo will include techniques he uses to improve your odds in catching the wild felines. 10:00 am ~Trap Adjustment and Modification - This demo will include discussion on many of the different modifications and adjustments made to traps to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of your traps. Topics will include dying, waxing, dipping, chain length, swiveling, off set jaws, laminated jaws, pan tension, springs and much more! 11:00 am ~Muskrat trapping demo - Jim McCallister from Oriska, ND. Jim grew up in the heart of the prairie pothole region and the heart of muskrat country. With many years of experience, Jim has developed some techniques which work well for him on the rat line. This demo will include something for all ages, so don't miss it! 12:00 noon ~Lunch. Please bring a salad or dessert. Refrigeration provided. 1:00pm ~Fall Meeting & Raffle 1:00pm ~Pocket Gopher Trapping - Alice Gangl, St. Anthony, ND. For the kids who don't want to sit through a meeting, we have a special treat. Alice will show you how to effectively catch the little earth movers to help you improve landowner relations and maybe put a little money in your pocket! 2:00pm ~Beaver Trapping Demo - Scott Evens, Granville, ND. Scott has been pursuing the flattails both on his own and for USDA Wildlife Services for many years, and during that time has made some unique observations. Scott will share some of the techniques that work well for him on the tree-chewers. 3:00 pm ~Fur Handling Demo - Doug Paulson, Morris, MN. Doug has been trapping and putting up his own fur for over 25 years. The past 7 years has kept him busy managing West Central Wildlife Control, where he puts up fur for many clients, as well as his own. His demo will include tips to help you get the most money possible for all your hard work! This is a don't miss demo! 4:00 pm ~Predator Calling Demo - Mark Hanlin, Bismarck, ND. Mark has over 24 years experience calling predators in the Dakotas. Mark's success is supported by his winnings in the competitive calling contests he has entered in South Dakota. He has given seminars on predator calling at Sport Shows in Bismarck, Minot, and Minneapolis. We are honored to have him as one of our guest speakers! 5:00 pm ~Trap Setting Contest - This is our first annual and it will be fun for all ages! The three age categories are: age 11 and under, age 12 through 15, and adult. Participants will be timed on speed setting a variety of traps, and wait till you see the prizes! Sign up when you arrive. 6:00 pm ~Dinner - come hungry! 7:00 pm ~Furbearer Update - Jackie Gerads, Floyd Chrest and Tim Larson, ND Game and Fish Department. Please welcome Jackie as the new Furbearer Biologist. Floyd and Tim will help answer any questions related to furbearer regulations, and proclamation changes. 8:00 pm ~Benefit Auction ( Please feel free to bring something to the auction - something homemade, used traps, etc.) |
