2000 so far...

The year 2000 has started off very promisingly, with over 30 new faces the Detachment is currently the biggest in the company with nearly 60 cadets. The new Cadet Training centre was opened and was Christened by the shooting team, who were the first to stay in it, on a familiarisation of the the new L81 A2 target rifle. The new centre was worth every penny, it provides godd accomodation and classroom facilities as well as plenty of things to do during free time, i.e. a couple of Playstations and an N64. The new rifle however evoked mixed emotions throughout the team, some liked it some didn't. There were a few faults with the rifle and the main one seemed to be the rear sight which shifted position after each shot and only had half a wind vernier. They have now been returned to Parker Hale and with any luck when they come back these problems should be fixed.

The increase in numbers has created the need for a bit of re-organisation at the detachment, and for this to work there have been some promotions. The cadets have been broken up into four sections,  with a Sergeant, Bombadier and Lance Bombadier in each section and a Staff Sergeant in charge of all four. Each Section Commander, 2 i/c and 3 i/c are in charge of another task as well as their own section. These other tasks are Shooting, Training, Stores and Administration.
