that to the frame rails. It is now STRONG. The bumper mounts to this using 6 gr8 5/8 bolts. You can see the bolt heads just below the tub. Rocker Skids: I used 2"x2"x.187 wall square tubing. Angled the ends & capped them & then welded two mounting bars to the frame using 1.25"dia .187wall tubing. They are totally stronger & more functional than the Nerfs that were on there before. And believe me, these things are field tested!!!. You can also see the recessed tail lights. I had smashed mine backing up into trees & rocks on the trail, so this was an obvious next step.& I got the lights from NAPA. They were $8 each for the sealed lights (stop/turn/tail). This is all I'll have to replace from now on. The pigtails (wiring/connector) were like $3 ea. The boots were $1.50 ea. It took about 2 hours to trace the holes & cut them using a jigsaw. That time also includes splicing the new wiring in. 11/10/99 - Updates 1) Using Fog lights as reverse lights. Wired to work off reverse gear and/or switch. They are BRIGHT (look out tailgaters) 2) Made new sway bar mounts & uplinks. 3) Mounted Daylighters up front
2/29/00 - Update 1) Tera-Low xfer case is assembled. BA10/5 is pulled. NP435 bellhousing is ready to install. Waiting to get NP435/NP231 adapter. This should give me approx. 110:1 1st gear lo- crawl ratio.
1/17/03 - Update- LOTS has changed in the last 2 years. As it sits today, the 'burb drivtrain is almost done/in, the axles are in, jeep is cut in 1/2 for tube project rear, rear 4-link is almost ready to install, 42's are on it, & it's about to be moved to it's new garage. Here's a pic before it was cut in 1/2 - oops - can't remote link anymore & am unable to upload any new pics. This bites!!!!!!! |
