Camp Cooking Tips (Hardware)

Pots & Pans:
Take several pots that nest one inside the other, a light weight Teflon coated skillet
with the handle removed to make packing easier and a roll of heavy duty aluminum foil
instead of lids.

Cooking Utensils:
Take a couple of wooden spoons, a big plastic serving ladle, sharp knife, pancake
turner and can opener.

Hot Pads:
Other handy cooking tools are the big hot pad mittens, take two. They are useful
for moving pots and skillets ,that do not have handles, around on the grill.

Grill:
For more than two people you need a big heavy duty grill. We use one that is about
15" X 24".  It has folding legs that help support it but we also have it supported by the
fireplace that we make out of rocks and stones.

Cooking Fireplace:
We gather a bunch of rocks and stones set up the grill and build the fireplace around
it. If possible we put flat rocks on the bottom to hold the heat. Try to keep the grill high
enough so that you can get enough wood under it. Set something flat near the grill such as
a flat stone or anything  else that will serve as a place to safely put pots that you pull off of
the grill. Do not use rocks that have been in the water as they sometimes explode when
heated.
