Asthma and other upper respiratory diseases are the common ill effects brought about by this situation. There is no point looking for someone to blame so the best thing to do is to learn to live with it.
Here are some tips on how to cope with the situation:
1. Equip yourself with dust mask, or use a handkerchief or your neckerchief before leaving your sub-camp.
2. Avoid loitering on a open field. Stay put at the activity areas only.
3. Walk slowly. Do not run as much as possible so as to prevent the dust from swirling.
4. Stay away from moving vehicles.
5. Sprinkle used water on dusty areas.
6. Always keep food and water container closed.
7. Do not place dusty materials inside the tent, e.g. shoes, slippers, etc...
8. Clean your area regularly especially your tents and close them before leaving.
9. Cover clothes and bedding with plastic or put it in your bag.
10. Wash before you eat or sleep.
Always remember that an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.
In case you forget, dust thou art, and to dust thou shalt keep returning
for three more
days.
