Subject: | Columbia River Walleye |
Chad and I fished the Columbia River about a mile below the Plymoth,
Washington boat launch for walleye. Fishing was slow but worthwhile for Chad who
picked up a nice 25", 6# female walleye. The weather was as nice and calm as
can be expected for mid February. The fish was caught trolling in 14 feet of water on a red bead, chartreuse blade monofilament lure known as a "chadoozer". This was a real special occasion for chad; namely, his biggest walleye ever, he broke in a new virgin ABU Garcia rod he bought last night, and he managed to out fish me. The game checker back at the docks said this weekend was the first time this year he had seen walleyes at this location; the bite is expected to start heating up now. Water temperature is at 38 deg F. Incidentally, we did see one fisherman with a nice hen steelhead at the parking lot. |
