Subject: San Juan/Puget Sound Salmon

Hi boys,
I've been fishing every weekend and twice during the week last week. Most of the time I’ve been fishing the San Juan Island Area; except, yesterday when we fished Double Bluff and Useless bay, 7 miles west of possession bar.
Even though the water got too rough to fish by noon, we managed to catch 4 nice salmon up to 9 lbs.
Unfortunately, I wrapped my down-riger cable around the prop when my buddy John was fighting the 4th fish. After suffering a cut cable we motored home slapping cable on the prop the whole way.
The San Juans have been a little slow; but, we're averaging 2 fish a trip. Obstruction bay has been the best fishing and calmest water.
To our surprise, there seems to be a size limit there inforced by one local resident, a harbor seal. Everytime we get a nice sized fish on, that damn seal gets it.
Does anyone know a good way to deter a hungry seal ????
Gene
