Subject: | Scooteney Reservoir Walleye |
Chad and I went out on a sunburning day to Scooteney Reservoir to catch
anything that would bite. We started fishing about 10:30 am. I have never seen
so many boats on the lake. At one time, I counted 11 boats on the main lake.
A friend of mine reports that on Sunday the surface temp was in the 50's. We initially fished for crappie and perch with jigs and floats off of the islands, humps, flats, and rock piles without so much as a hit. Lots of fish were marked on the fish finder. When we started to troll for walleye, I hooked up and caught a nice 17" walleye with a chartreuse blade, chartreuse bead monfilament lure (Mark's Lure) in 16' of water on a ledge dropping from 12' to 20'. I dropped a buoy and trolled back and forth along the 200 yard ledge working different depths on the ledge. All told, Chad caught a clone 17" walleye, and I missed a couple of others. No keepers but overall pretty successful. My first walleye action from Scooteney, the water was warm enough for the walleye to fight, and I think even at that we outfished the rest. We were driven off of the water with sunburns by 3:30. The best is yet to come. Walleye Time. Good Fishing All Mark |
