Moe and I made the trek to the best fishing water in the
state on Saturday. We caught 22 fish Saturday, starting off with a double on the two biggest rainbow of the trip, 19" and 20". Saturday totals - 6 rainbow, 6 bass, and 10 kokanee (which were released). On Sunday the weather got bad, rain, cold and wind. We boated one very large 21" kokanee, 6 other kokanee, and 5 rainbow by noon, which is when we packed it. Once the Sunday cold front rolled in, the bass and rainbow went completely off the bite. A good trip with 34 total fish bagged. The kokanee were extremely aggressive and fought well, especially at the boat. Moe stuck with 6lb test and donated a few rapalas to the fish Gods. I lost none on 8lb and a light drag. There will be no boat launching in Roosevelt for several weeks. We launched at Keller Ferry, and by Sunday it was a stretch to get the boat out of the water. |
