1992 was our first trip to the BWCA. We went with 7 others on a trip through my university. Our adventure started about 1 week after the ice broke, went 85 water miles and 5 portage miles (x3 for the up-back-up trips), and ended after 8 days on the water. The last full day out it rained on us, followed by snow squalls the last half day out. All of these pictures had to be touched up by my computer program. I used a point-and-shoot for this first trip. By our next trip, I had a good SLR and lots better pictures.
These were three of our campsites.
I have NO idea which campsite this is from, but it was a gorgeous day.
This was a neat little rapids we portaged. The water was so clear and cold.
This is what we had to portage around. | Just a nice front view from our canoe. |
This was the back view from the same time. I don't remember who was behind us.
I love areas like this up here. The cliffs are so great. We found one spot where you could dive off the cliffs and swim.
Somewhere in here are several Indian pictographs from up in Cache Bay. This picture had to be touched up a lot, which made it difficult to see the pictographs.
Silver Falls, on the south end of the bay, is quite a drop. That's my dad at the top of the portage. Note--you can't see the bottom from here, no matter what you think you see.
The top of the falls. | |
Can you see the rainbow at the top of the falls? It was a spectacular view.
What better way to end? The colors of the reflection are outstanding. |
Well, thanks for visiting. I hope you've bookmarked my site and return often. I will continue to add pictures from every year we go up, so check back to see what's new!!
