Here is the buck that I shot during rifle season on the first day. I thought that he was a different deer when I shot. We had been watching a bigger buck a lot during archery season and we thought that this one was him. A guy pushed the buck just as I was going go shoot him at a water hole while he was drinking at about 400 yards. He ran about a mile to the north to a CRP field of ours. We got in the pickup and drove around to this field. Just as I starte up the fenceline the deer took off running across the CRP. We looked through our scopes and we thought it was the big one, it was right at dark and we had a hard time telling. So I took the shot as he jumped the fence. I made a really good heart/lung shot and he only went about 10 feet (rolling) hehe. That is the first deer that I killed with my new Browning A-Bolt II Composite Stalker in 7mm Rem Mag. I later shot another 4x4, but don't have any pictures of it. |
