thanks for all the info on the shad and skipjack Had hear cut skip jack was best bait for channel and blue cats. Not many skipjacks found from the bank near here. I have got a spot that has agood number of gizzard and threadfin shad. can get enough ba t with my casting net to meet my needs. So no longer concerned about getting skipjacks. nlcatfish

Great Web Site! Looks like you have caught a lot of Stripers. The Shad information is especially useful. I usually fish the tailwaters of Eisenhower Dam (below Lake Texoma in Texas and Oklahoma) with live Shad of Skipjack when they are available. If not then I spend all my time trying to get them and then go home. The new Texas record of 52.9 lbs caught below Possum Kingdom Lake has me interested in building a RC boat that would carry a live Shad about 300 yards to the good water. Hard to get a hook set or even feel a fish at that distance though.
