Welcome to the home page of Troop 82, Tyee district, Marysville, WA.
We are joining other troops from the Mt. Baker Council
who have already gone on-line.

Troop 82 is sponsored by VFW Post 1561 in Arlington.

Marysville is situated in Snohomish County 30 miles north of Seattle on the I-5 corridor.

Also known as the "Strawberry Capital", Marysville celebrates it's famous crop with the annual Strawberry Festival. It is the oldest on-going event of its type in Washington, dating back to 1932.
Biringer Farm is a perennial sponsor of the "Pig Out on the Farm" berry-picking weekend during the festival. Click on Scout picture at right to learn more about Scouting history in the '30's.

The 10-day event combines community celebration with tourist appeal. Over 100,000 visitors and participants are attracted to the adult trike races, bed races, fun run and carnival to name a few events planned and organized by
Maryfest, Inc. a non-profit group. The highlight is the Grand Parade
featuring marching bands, drill teams, floats, Seafair Royalty and, of course,
The Seafair Pirates.

The population in Marysville, according to the 2000 census, is roughly 25,000
with 10 elementary schools, two middle schools, two junior highs and one
high school all serving approximately 8,000 students.

Major industries around Marysville include
Boeing Aircraft Company and Hewlett-Packard
in Everett and Bayliner-Marine Corp in Arlington.
Nearby Everett is also a Navy home port.

Troop 82 hold meetings every Monday night 7:00 - 8:30
pm at the Messiah Lutheran Church, 9209 State Ave.
Neal Wittlake is the scout master. The recent advancement
of seven scouts to the rank of Eagle Scout
continues the proud tradition of character building
and personal goal-setting established over fifteen years ago.
Six of the current Eagles had been tapped out for
Order of the Arrow.

Outdoor adventure opportunities abound with the Cascade
Mountains a short 90 minutes from our back door.
Snow shoeing, cross-country skiing or an igloo overnight on
Mt. Rainier are only a few of the physical challenges
that we have undertaken over the years.

Mt. Baker Council is the home of two Boy Scout Camps:
Camp Black Mountain and Fire Mountain . Council headquarters
and professional offices are located in Everett
at 1715 - 100th Place SE. Both Everett and
Bellingham have trading posts.
