This is Jeff Sereda of Lucky Lake Saskatchewan along with Aaron Perry of New Brunswick. They met working on a fish farm thier a few years back. Jeff is on the left and Aaron is on the right. I have known Aaron for a number of years and his brothers James and Jason as well. The above picture was taken back in 97 or 98. now on to the real story.
Here is Jeff's story of his dream buck as appeared in the Summer 2000 Editon of Big Buck Magazine.
Jeff Sereda of Lucky Lake, Saskatchewan, with his archery mule deer he harvested in 1999. Jeff has a super job working at the fish farm near Lucky Lake. He is well tanned from being on the water a great deal of the time. The net score of his mule deer is 224 1/8 non-typical P&Y points in full velvet.
On Saturday of the first week of bow season Jeff was out hunting with his buddy Colin Potter around noon. He had pulled up to a slough which was surrounded by standing wheat. Duck hunters were shooting thier shotguns in the distance when all of a sudden a huge mule deer buck stood up. Colin and Jeff grabbed thier bows and began the stalk. Closing the distance Jeff spotted antlers at 30 yards. At 10 yards Jeff let loose a shaft that sailed over the bucks back as Jeff stood and watched his dream bolt away.
It was Monday morning when Jeff along with Colin and another buddy Al Trumbley were out again hoping to outsmart a mulie. They returned to the same slough and was showing Al where the buck had been the previous Saturday and Al calmly said "that deer". Colin and Jeff turned to look where Al was pointing and thier he was Mr .Big and another good buck. They were a good 400 yards away but during the stalk the bucks had vanished.
Colin and Al had had enough and left for the day. Finishing lunch in Lucky Lake ol Jeff decided to go back to the slough and a wise choice it was. The wind was harsh and the rain was steady. Walking a couple of hundred yards and with Jeff's binoculars he spotted antlers sticking out of the wheat and it was the same buck he had missed. With the wind in his face Jeff began the stalk and realizing he was right behind him at 5 yards and he drew his bow and the wind gust flattened the whear enabling Jeff to see the body of the deer and let loose his arrow. It had found the mark and the deer ran off about 300 yards and stopped and looked back and then dropped. Upon reaching the buck Jeff knew he had a trophy to be proud. The gross score for this magnificent animal is 230 1/8. Congratulations Jeff...yours in hunting, Bob aka Bobo-New Brunswick, Canada.
This is the official P&Y score sheet.
