I hadnt been able to go out much recently, but I finally changed that..Lake hudsons water level was dropped 5 ft for boat ramp repairs, and i have taken advantage of that. This isnt even a quarter of what I have found in the last two days... and I havent been out looking very long either day. The large smith is a very fine find...and its very unusual how many drills I found. This will give you an idea of the type of stuff that I found...i couldnt even come close to scan all the finds.11-23-97,11-24-97.
Below is an extremely rare find...one im very proud of...it is a gorget with an engraving of a snake running down the center..its made of greenstone..eddard found one half of it..i found the other..11-23-97..it has 9 tally marks total on it..its gorgeous, you would have to see it..(now we are both trying to get each others half)..hehhe..there are many odd things about it..one side has 3 holes, the other two. This type of slatelike stone is not known for this area..and the head of the snake..(the side i found)..has small rays coming from the mouth..very unusual.
These are some I found today 11-26-97. These are from a new spot that i found, while the lake is down, some very good quality points here. This is only a few of what i found, This is one of the best days of hunting that I can remember, I stopped counting the complete points at 25-30. They were everywhere, and seemed to jump out at you, very splendid day.
I was fortunate enough to meet a great guy from tulsa recently, his name is don, (but you can call him elmer)..he gave me a holler, and wanted to know if I wanted to go look for arrowheads today, what he didnt know is im always willing to go look for them pointy rocks. We decided to go to one of my favorite spots on lake hudson. The weather wasnt playing fair, we hadnt been there too long when it started to rain..rain, and chilly gusts of air just arent fun sometimes. But we battled it out for a little bit and was able to find a few common points. I believe the point on the left is an ensor, but its beveled as a thebes, the one on the right is a adena dickson. The lake was up way too high to be able to look where we wanted, and the weather didnt help either. But we plan on going again soon, you can't keep a diehard point collector down!!..
