Rainbow's End is the name of the beatiful house/cabin that we spent our 7 days in. The grounds are located in the central British Columbia area known as the Cariboo. We took highway #1 north-east from Vancouver to highway #97. We went north to 100 mile house. Then east approx. 50 Km. Then 13 Km. down a 4X4 road.
The cabin that we stayed in. Actually, it was more like a house. Although there was no electricity available this far in the bush, there was a 3500 watt generator that was cheap on gas. With the generator running, you could have a hot shower, microwave, use lights, radios or any other 120v appliance.
Another view of the cabin on the lake. It has a nice sandy beach, a boat dock, a nice fire pit, a covered area with fire pit for those not so nice days. We left our boat at home and used one of the many that were available up there.
View from the top front bedroom that we stayed in. Sunsets were beautiful. The lake was very calm.
Another shot of the wonderful sandy beaches of Canim lake. We took the boat to this secluded area at the top of the lake where the water feeds into the river just above the huge Canim Falls.
This is the green hornet. It is our Kawasaki KZ80. It's small, but it's fast. It's a 2 stroke and when you find the power band you better be holding on! We ended up with a flat on day 2 and had to take it to town for a new tube. There was many places to explore on the bikes and we did!
This is the Yamaha 125 that was up at the cabin and available to use. We had to work on it for a few hours to get it going. It was a fun bike because it had a headlight so we could go riding at night which was really fun. Mel rode this bike.
When we got tired of dirt biking and boating, we loaded up the 4X4 and the map and went exploring. We noticed these waterfalls were only about an hours drive so we went to check them out. We also went up a few 4X4 roads and found a few secluded lakes in the mountains.
After a nice relaxing .5 Km trail, this waterfall comes into view. We were shocked to find out exactly how close we came to the top of the falls when we went out in the boat the day before. Turns out if the spring run off was happening, we would have been swept over the falls or so the locals say. We preferred the view from here.
Beautiful Mahood Falls. Just a little father down the trail and here is another beautiful waterfalls. It's amazing to see two big waterfalls this close together. Mahood lake is just a few Km from here. Mahood lake is in a well known park called Wells Gray Provincial Park. The park is breathtaking. Untouched mostly by humans. The place to see wildlife!
