Chilko lake is about 75 Km long and one of the most untouched areas of BC. The beauty is everywhere you look. There are very few roads and really only Indian Reserves near by. There are so many LONG trails all around the lake. Our favorite area was the Potato range.
You would not believe the road that we had to go down with the boat connected to make it to this spectacular lake. This area was declared a provincial park a few years ago and is far from touristy. As we found out later, most people fly in for their stay at Chilko Lake.
This picture was taken at Chasm, BC. Just near Clinton, this is a great stop or day trip. We always stop here on any trips north on highway 97. Chasm is like a mini grand canyon. There are many 2 & 4 wheel drive roads all around it giving you a panaramic view of natures erosion.
This picture is of Dave & Lucky sitting on Alexandra bridge.
This bridge, built in the early 1900's, has a steel grid bottom allowing you to look down at the fast flowing, historic Fraser river. The bridge has been out of use for vehicle traffic but makes a great 10 minute walk on a beautiful old road/trail. We stop at this site on every drive north in the Fraser Canyon
Melinda & Lucky on the same bridge. Alexandra bridge is located about 15 minutes north of Hope, BC on highway #1.
There are also trails to hike on the other side of the bridge. Just a short trip up river is Hells' Gate.
