The Lebanon
Amazing as it sounds, high plateaus in Mount Lebanon are a ideal for cross-country skiing and slopy mounts, for downhill skiing. The average skiing period stretches four months easily from mid december.

The Laqlouq Plateau at 2000 ~ 2200 m and one hour drive from Beirut, is a paradise for Cross-country and Track Skiing , with circuits more than 20 km long.

Zaarour , at 2000 m , is much closer and less than one hour drive, with glorious views of Sannine Mountain in the background,

The Cedars Area starting from 2000 to 2500 m, is three hours drive. From there you can easily reach, skiing or by cable-seat, a Plateau at 2800 m which leads you to Qornet es Sawda ( Black Corner ), the highest peak in Mount Lebanon at 3088 m, or you can leasurely ski to the thousands-years-old Cedars of the Lebanon

The Cedars were the first Downhill Skiing Center in the Lebanon, soon to be replaced by Faraya , only one hour drive from Beirut, because of poor management. 1
