Trails Which Connect With The Difficult Run Trail



From North To South:

The network of trails in Great Falls Park. These extend along the Potomac. They connect with the trails in Riverbend Park. They reach almost all of the way to Loudoun County's border.

Colvin Run Trail, at Colvin Run Mill Park. Sometimes this is called the "Rails To River Trail." Marked by short, white 6" by 6" posts with horseshoes painted on them.

Connector trail to Meadowlark Gardens Park. This unnamed trail is overgrown. Best attempted in the winter.

Hunter Mill Estates Trail, a crushed-gravel trail, about one mile long, which ends on Hunter Mill Road in Reston. From there, one can walk on sidewalks along Sunrise Valley Drive back to the W&OD.

The bike trail.  
the Difficult Run Trail follows the route of the W&OD for more than a half-mile. Southbound, Difficult Run Trail leaves the W&OD near Buckthorn Lane. Northbound, it branches off just west of the bridge over Difficult Run.

The Reston Assocition publishes maps of its trails on the web.  
published on the web by The Reston Association. In fact, the Difficult Run Trail follows two trails maintained by the Reston Association. One is The Twin Branches Nature Trail. The other is The Glade. Both are in the south-east corner of Reston, which as more than eighty miles of trails.
