Invitation to the Krampus Kränzchen

Christmas Ball

of the
American-Austrian Society
Saturday, December 14, 2002, 7:00 pm - 12:30 am
Grand Ballroom, Officers Club, Fort Myer, VA

The American-Austrian Society is pleased to invite you to this festive formal dinner dance in Austrian style. For reservations, complete the Reservation Form provided at this web site, and mail it with your check to the address indicated. Tickets are $80 per person (A-AS members and Meridian waltz students) and $85 per person (all others). Space is limited, so please make your reservations early. Please note that tickets are not being mailed; simply check in at the door.

The Krampus Kränzchen is being held at the beautifully decorated Grand Ballroom (The Koran Room), of the Officers' Club at Fort Myer, VA. Follow the link for the map and print it to guide your driving to the ball. Please note that you may enter Fort Myer via the Hatfield Gate or the Wright Gate.

For security reasons, each person (not just the driver) must show an official photo I.D. (such as a driver's license) to be admitted to Fort Myer. Be sure to list your name on the reservation form as it is shown on your photo I.D.; the name on the list we provide for the gate must match your photo I.D. Be aware that your automobile may be searched at the gate when you arrive.

Dancers may like to know that the dance floor will be even larger than the size it was last year. The Grand Ballroom is the same location as last year's ball. Guests will be seated at round tables located around the large dance floor. The Ballroom is designated non-smoking. The dance music will consist primarily of Viennese waltzes by Strauss, Lehar, Waldteufel and others, with some traditional Viennese polkas, schottisches, and mazurkas and a variety of other ballroom dances.

For the Fledermaus Quadrille at midnight we will form long lines the entire length of the Ballroom. All will be invited to join in the Quadrille, which will be taught earlier in the evening. It will replicate the Quadrille traditionally danced at midnight at the balls in Vienna.

Attire for the ball is formal: black tie/white tie optional. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Christmas Ball Committee Chair Carol Traxler at 301-577-3503 home; 202-651-5881 office; email carol.traxler@gallaudet.edu.

Tickets will not be mailed. Keep this invitation as your reminder! We look forward to seeing you at the 2002 American-Austrian Society Krampus Kränzchen!
