STORY:
My friends and I are coming back from the end of the year banquet and we decide to hit TRU for the midnight madness as Episode I toys are about to hit the shelves. The first thing I grab on the way in the store is Darth Maul's lightstaff. (Ed. note, isn't that so much easier to say than "double-bladed lightsaber"?)
Now of course, I'm going to need a costume to go with this. So I ask nicely as a birthday present to get a Sith cloak. My mother fixes me up before I left for the school year. Isn't she great?
Next thing I know, I'm in a Halloween store, having heard people say "There's a Darth Maul makeup stencil kit..." and looking around, I find it. Fully intending to debut it at the exotic Zone Ball, I decline because I didn't realize how much makeup prep time would be required until too late. But that's what SDCC is supposed to be for, ne?
And so I decide to debut it there. Starting at 9:30, the makeup job was finally finished at noon. There were a few problems, however, being that the mask that was supposed to be "one size fits all" is not "one size fits all." As such, it kept peeling off (although the sweat didn't help the situation any.) Of note was a picture taken with a Han Solo (both people being the appropriate height.) And the ladies especially seemed to like the bad boy!
