BENMA GETS THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: MAJORA'S MASK
Tuesday...October 24th...Must...get...game...And thus, Pokemon was surpassed as Game of the Month. Although he didn't open it until Friday, when a second pristene copy arrived in the $70 Nintendo bundle ($70 - $20 Nintendo Power Subscription - $10 TLoZ:MM Soundtrack -$10/15 Strategy Guide =$25/30 game). And then Benma played! The game is incredible, although a bit too difficult for free exploration WHEN YOU'VE GOT MIDTERMS, PAPERS, AND PRESENTATIONS!! But who has time for that scholastic-type stuff anyway?? The game ROCKS. It took a short while to get back into full hack & slash mode, but by the second 3-day set he was back in fine form. Z-targeting is STILL the absolute best concept for a 3-D gaming environment. Odolwa is a pretty LAME first boss, though. (Gohma rocked!!) Continued updates on this game will occur as Benma continues to progress through the game. Posted 11-2-2000, Benma Press, Inc.
BENMA GETS POKEMON GOLD AND SILVER
During a trip to the mall on the 13th, Benma asked Electronic Boutique clerks the following question: "Why is the strategy guide for Pokemon Gold and Silver out if the game isn't?" The response: "Um...they are out." "Why wasn't I called??" "Because we just got them in today." And the game was purchased shortly thereafter. Benma has set Gold to normal time and Silver twelve hours ahead, so he can play night and day at night, and vice versa. *Yoda voice* Beat the system, you shall.

BENMA POKE-UPDATE
Benma FINALLY beat the difficult PIKA CUP of POKEMON STADIUM on Tuesday, which was "...much harder than any of the others because I had to rely almost entirely on rental Pokemon." The only two that were his were a level 16 Dragonair (with Dragon Rage, an absolute must-have in this cup) and a level 19 Gastly (to avoid explosions and to go 3 on 2 with little or no work). Once that was over, Benma defeated Mewtwo two the first time, losing only one Pokemon. "It was a snap," he said after the game, "and was actually less difficult than round one because it had amnesia instead of Blizzard, a critical attack against my Exeggutor and its deadly Leech Seed/Toxic combo." In addition to his success, Benma also discovered that there is a maximum to the time counter on POKEMON YELLOW, being 255:59:59. Which would put him very close to 300 total hours between the three games, if not more. GOLD and SILVER reports are soon to follow, beginning next month. Posted 9-21-2000, Benma Press, Inc.
SOON TO COME: TALISMANS 1/2 PAGE
Benma's latest webpage, to be up and running soon, will include pictures of Eggbaby, the now complete prop used on stage in AGSMA's Adventures in Babysitting...and Beyond skit at SDCC 2K. Also to be featured is the Lego Ultimate Collector's Series TIE Interceptor set, 703 pieces of "look but don't touch" fragility. Posted 9-12-2000, Benma Press, Inc.
FINALLY...BENMA HAS COME BACK TO MONTEREY!!!
Benma returned to Monterey, CA this past Thursday in order to resume studies at the Monterey Institute of International Studies. Upon arrival, news was received that he is not on academic probation (like there was ever a doubt). Keep in mind that this is graduate school and you need a 3.0 minimum. Now, it's back to the grind and struggling with Nihongo.

BENMA 1/2 GETS HIS RANMA 1/2 #1 AUTOGRAPHED BY TAKAHASHI RUMIKO!!!
In the highlight of the convention, Takahashi-san autographed his Ranma 1/2 #1 (the $150 one). It could not have been done without Principal Kuno, who won a prized autograph ticket along with Ucchan, but decided to give it to me and make the highlight of my convention, meeting Takahashi-san and getting my #1 signed, a reality. AGSMA WINS JUDGE'S CHOICE AT ANIME EXPO!!
The Anything Goes School of Masquerade Arts presented Mononoke Mountain on Saturday, July 1st. The group consisted of Trunks, myself, and two new recruits, Kurumi and Natsume. The skit, which used the Space Mountain theme, featured a four-layer Disney pun using that, a Disneyland bag, a Mickey Mouse doll, and the fact that Princess Mononoke is a (Disney) Miramax release. The judges liked our San, Ashitaka, Lady Eboshi, and Dibararochi enough to give us the prize, and praised us on our ability to condense a two hour movie into two minutes. Many congratulations to AGSMA on their latest victory! Posted 7-3-2000, Benma Press, Inc.
BENMA GETS SURFING PIKACHU!!!
Earlier this week, in heated Round 2 Prime Cup Master Ball action, Benma led with Exeggutor, only to meet with an explosion from the enemy Exeggutor. Left with just over 70 HP, the computer brought in Mew, hoping to put an end to Exeggutor quickly. The enemy Mew made the mistake of leading with Psychic, leaving Benma's Exeggutor with under ten HP, but still alive enough to cast Toxic on Mew. With Exeggutor dead the following turn, Benma brings in Pikachu to give it its cameo (in order to be able to learn Surf) and to attempt to paralyze Mew. This attempt failed, and Mew dispatched Pikachu with its second Psychic blast. Benma's MewTwo came in, and after paralyzing MewTwo, the enemy Mew left to change toxic from an increasing poison to a strong but normal effect poison. The enemy Rhydon came in, only to be met with a critical hit!! Psychic blast from MewTwo. One-on-one action then ensued, with Benma healing every round until the enemy Mew had nothing but Softboiled and Thunder Wave left. Fighting off paralysis, there was one time when Benma looked like he would fail, but with HP less than 100, recover came through. With the enemy Mew out of attacks, Benma went on the offensive, and when Mew's Softboiled ran out, Benma easily cruised to victory and a Surfing Pikachu. Posted 5-18-2000, Benma Press, Inc.
