Alberta was first created as a
province on September 1,1905.
Alberta
is the farthest west of Canada's prairie provinces and is divided
into four major regions. The Rocky Mountains, the Foothills, the
Shield and the Plains.
Alberta was named after Princess Louise
Caroline Alberta, 4th daughter of Queen
Victoria and wife of the Marquis of Lorne, Governor General of
Canada from 1878 to 1883. Their main products are the following;
Resource Extraction and Mining; oil, gas and coal.
Agriculture; Beef cattle, feed grain, wheat, oilseed and barley.
Manufacturing; Food products, oil and gas products (including
Petrochemicals), and wood products. Their time zone is Mountain
Standard time. Some of the Parks are; National;
Banff, Jasper,
Elk Island, Watterton Lakes, Wood Buffalo, Provincial; there are
more than 60 provincial parks, including Cypress Hills, Dinosaur,
Lesser Slave Lake, and Writing on Stone. Highest points; Mount
Columbia-3747m, The Twins-3733m, Mount Alberta-3620m, Assiniboine-3618m.
Lowest points; Slave River-152m, Lake Athabasca; 213m. Largest
Lakes (Entirely within Alberta) Lake Claire-1436 square km.,
Lesser Slave Lake-1168 square km.
This is centre street in Drumheller looking North, Horse and carriage, old cars, old Whitehouse Pool Hall (circa 1930's)
The Mines opened 1910 and 1911 and they could ship coal out by train. Drumheller has the mines and badlands and dinosaur fossils from eons ago.
