Khari Samuel
LB | (6-2 ½, 242, 4.77) | Massachusetts
Drafted by: Chicago, Pick 11, Round 5 , Overall 144
by Pro Football Weekly
chi

Notes: Fifth-year senior who was a four-year starter. Had 94 stops, seven sacks, 10 tackles for loss and a pick in 1995, 118-6-9-0 in '96, 123-3-17-0 in '97 and 109 tackles, two picks, four passes broken up and 10 tackles for loss last year.

Positives: Adequate size. Above-average speed and range. Moves around pretty well and is becoming more instinctive and reactive. Has played inside and outside. Good special-team player. Has done some snapping.

Negatives: Lacks great size, speed and instincts. Punt snaps tend to lack zip. Has not faced great competition.

Summary: Solid but not outstanding prospect.

Rashard Cook
DB | (5-11 ¼, 197, 4.75) | USC
Drafted by: Chicago, Pick 15, Round 6 , Overall 184
by Pro Football Weekly
chi

Notes: High-school jumper and sprinter who also stood out on the hardwood and gridiron. Lettered as a backup free safety and special-team player in 1995. Got his first start at free safety in '96 but also worked at strong safety. Started the first six games in '97 at strong safety and the last five at free safety. That season, he led the team with 79 tackles and three interceptions. Also had four sacks and eight tackles for loss. All Pacific-10 safety in '98 after recording 83 tackles, five passes broken up and two interceptions.

Positives: Solid all-around athlete. Aggressive. Quick to support. Jumps well. Can be tough and physical.

Negatives: Looks a little straight-linish at times. Average off the blocks. Will miss some tackles in the open field. Lacks stopwatch speed, or, at least, did not run well at the Combine.

Summary: Needs to improve on his 40-time as recorded at the Combine, but, because he ran at the Combine and was cooperative, he will at least get as many chances to run and work out again as those athletes who refused to take part. Still, at this point he is just an average prospect.

Sulecio Sanford
WR | (5-10 3/8, 190, 4.52) | Middle Tennessee
Drafted by: Chicago, Pick 15, Round 7 , Overall 221
by Pro Football Weekly
chi

Notes: Georgia Military College transfer. Played extensively but did not start in '97, when he caught 27 passes for 407 yards and five touchdowns, returned five punts for 84 yards and a score and brought back six kickoffs for 96 yards. Moved into the lineup in '98. Caught 54-674-7 and returned 17 punts for 139 yards and 15 kickoffs for 385 yards and a score.

Positives: Adequate size, speed and hands. Shows flashes of skills. Improving. Has some quickness and run vision.

Negatives: Inexperienced. Needs work beating the jam and running routes. Does not have a special physical quality.

Summary: Should be in an NFL camp and has an outside chance to make an NFL squad.

James Finn
RB | (5-10, 238, 4.65) |
Drafted by: Chicago, Pick 47, Round 7 , Overall 253
by Pro Football Weekly
chi

Notes: Wrestling champion (185 pounds) in high school. Was used as a running back in 1995. Played extensively at strong safety in '96 and had 55 tackles and three interceptions. Began '97 as a strong safety and ended the season as an All-Ivy League running back. Had 155 carries for 801 yards and 11 touchdowns. Also had 24 tackles and one interception. Often played both ways. Workhorse runner in '98 who carried 323-1,450-17.

Positives: Fine competitor. Tough. Fine intangibles. Solid, tough inside runner who has some pick and vision. Finishes his runs. Versatile, all-around athlete.

Negatives: Was a featured runner who does not have the skills or speed to be a featured back in the pros. Will need a lot of work on blocking before he can move to fullback.

Summary: Dominated the Ivy League but will not dominate on the next level. Was featured in college but is not fast or skillful enough to be featured on the next level. May have to learn to block to be a fullback or a swing back.
