Now it's time for the big show, the impressive fireworks display from 9:30-10 p.m. For the second year in a row, Gabriel slept through the entire thing.

The theme this year was "Thunder Over Louisville 2001: A Festival Odyssey." The fireworks were launched to music from science-fiction, which was fun to pick out, from Star Wars to Lost in Space (TV show) to Star Trek. As Ronnie Bowman, 43, of Louisville, put it, "This isn't fireworks; this is art."
