Pets...I couldn't get enough of them! Each one so unique and different. Anyway, here are the wonderful pets that my family and I have:
PEBBLES
My lovely scruffy girl, Pebbles, a Maltese + Jack Russell cross. She's a wonderful dog, though sometimes a coward, being terrified of wind, storms and loud noises such as gunshots. This is caused by a bad puppyhood in a pet shop. She's very agile, meaning nimble, quick. She's also very smart, very quick to learn. That's why I'm taking her to obedience classes to do agility. She loves to play and run around, just like a terrier, and she wants to curl up on your lap like the maltese in her. She was born around December 1, 1993. We got her as a sick little puppy from pet shop, and brought her back to full health. Once she was getting the proper food, she kept growing and growing until she was quite a bit bigger than we thought she would be! Pebbles is loyal with a very small streak of mischief, though usually very willing to please, and she makes a wonderful dog.
BEN & COCO
These two little fellows are my little guinea-pigs. They love their food and come squeaking out of their bed every morning at breakfast time. Ben was one of my first pets, as my dog Pebbles didn't start out being mine. I was woken up late at night and given a box from my Mum, who had been out. Digging into it I pulled out the black smooth coated little Ben. He has a white blaze up his nose, and a red-brown stripe coming up one side from his red-brown tummy. I adored him. I took care of him and often got him out to play with, but we became worried that he might get lonely when we were out all day. So along came Coco, a Rex-Abysinian cross. With Rex coloring(brown with black flecks) and two Abysinian swirls, he's a cute little guy. Now they live peacefully in their hutch, their favourite food is hand-picked grass and brocoli comes in at a near second. With much sorrow Ben was put to sleep in April after loosing the use of his back legs. At four years of age he had lead a good life, and he is missed dearly. My good ol' Benny boy.
ELLIE* & NAJAH These are the names of two lovely horses, who I share with my sister, Amy. Ellie is an Arab(Arabian) and she is a Bay in colour(brown with black mane and tail). Najah is a cross breed, an older lady at 18. She's a chestnut, brown with a brown mane and tail, almost a sorrel(light mane and tail). Ellie is 9 years old and the two get along quite well, with Ellie being the boss. They are good riding horses and well behaved. They like Amy and I a lot and come cantering down to the gate if they see us outside. They are lovely animals.
ALFIE
Alfie is a lovely dachsund, a sausage dog. He's nine years old and has been loved in my family all his life. He's really got quite a charachter, with the independent streak that dachshunds are known for. Twice he has hurt his back, which dachsunds are prone to, but we've nursed him back to health, even by taking him the two hour drive to a doggie chiropracter often. We have to watch him to make sure he doesn't jump down from things, even stairs, which can hurt his back again. He loves food!
Jessie
Unlike Alfie, Jessie is only a puppy, born on the 21 of February, 1998. She's my older sister Amy's dog, a tiny thing, Chihuahua+Mini Foxi. She likes all the puppy things--games, cuddles, food, and more food. She loves to sleep on her masters lap, and also behinde our wood heater in the winter.
ZACHARY
Zachary is a budgie, a small, Australian bird. He's bluish-grey and my sister, Amy's bird. He likes to stick his head into the small toy bells and move his beak so it makes a sound. He likes seedsticks, and coming out of his cage for a fly. He's a very nice pet to have around, constantly talking, saying things like "What'cha'doin' Zachararachary" (he lengthened his name) and "Come on, dogs. Come here. Walkie walkie" and "Hello, how are you? Pretty boy". One of the nicest budgies there ever will be, SANKA
On the day that Zachary died, we couldn't stand the empty cage that bought fresh tears to our eyes. It needed to be lived in, to be used. Another budgie needed to have a happy life with our family. So Sanka was chosen by Amy from the same place as Zachary was. Amy decided to name him Sanka because of his ice blue colour. 'Why Sanka?' You ask. Well, have you seen the movie Cool Runnings? If you haven't, ask someone about it. We're going to teach him to say things like, 'Ya' man' and 'ICE?!'. He is turning out to be quite a charachter, we're sure he'll be just as lovely as Zachary in his own way. Hopefully we shall soon have a photo for me to put on this page.
KARINA
Karina is a mini pony, she is a yearling (one year old). You see, we would like to have a mini pony stud just for fun, and she is our first mini. Karina's very quiet for her age, and a lovely chocolate colour. She is right on height now, which is 87cm (34in) measured at the wither, which is the bone about where the mane ends. She is a lovely horse.
FISH
Najah
*Ellie has now left us to be sold to a devoted young rider, who will give her the mental excersise that she needs. Amy and I aren't really interested in riding to the level that Ellie needs, like dressage. We just like to have a quiet ride on the rode. Najah is good for that, and so here she will stay, to be friends with the miniature ponies of our soon-to-be-stud.
Amy holding Jessie
In memory: On the 24th of January, 1999, Zachary passed away. With many tears he was buried in a salada box on a bed of tissues, deep in the ground. We have only happy memories of this budgie. He died simply from old age.
He was a gift from God, was Zachary.
Of course, we can't forget the fish, we don't name them now, after being upset when they died. Whenever we clean their tank, one or two die, even though we use the proper condioner etc. so we leave them be and let water snails do the cleaning. We have pond weed in their tank too, so they eat that and fish food.
So, thats my pets. I hope you enjoyed reading about them.
