My Teenage Years

Don't get me wrong, I'm only four human years old. But one human year equals aprox. 7 dog years. Therefore, my teenage years were when I was around two. I lived in the same place as when they rescued me from the pet shop thingy. I had my happy playmate Alfie, and we lived in the house and backyard. Oh, we had fun times. We would play chasey a lot in our territory, Alfie was usually 'it'. Once when our family of human-dogs were out, we got through the back fence into the neighbours yard. Wow, it was incredible. I felt a little scared though. But then my handsome man came strutting beside me and I felt safe. We sniffed a bit, there were some great smells, but, oh no, part of the house opened! A small section of the brick wall just opened right out, the humans call them 'doors'. A tall, man, human-dog stood there, and Alfie and I ran back to the fence. We searched and scratched but we couldn't find our way in! Then the man was upon us. A huge, human-dog had caught us on his territory! I shivered in fright. I was so terrified, but he caught us and did not hurt us. Actually, he took us on the road and around to our gate. He opened it and let us in, and he left! Oh, how relieved I was, to be free in our own place! The humans returned not long after and they never knew! There was also the time when our family was out, and Alfie and I decided to go on an adventure. I found a gap next to the shed, and calling Alfie, I picked my way through the skinny alley and found a hole in the fence where it had rotted. I squeezed through and found myself in the same yard as last time, though I decided to look at a different yard. Telling Alfie where I was, I walked along the fence a little bit and found another tiny gap. Excited, I went through here too, with some difficulty. I stepped forward and had a sniff, then called back to Alfie again. But, oh no, it happened again! A not so big human-dog stepped out of the house looking right at me! It came towards me, and I ran, and ran, and ran, until she gave up. Then she went away, and I searched the back fence for the hole. It wasn't there! Shivering, I huddled against the side fence and talked to Alfie. He tried to tell me how to get back, but it was no use. I was too upset. After what seemed like hours, the gate that was next to the house opened, and there stood that human-dog, though she was with someone else....Gemma! I was so excited and relieved, I ran and jumped straight into the arms of my mother. Then, jumping down I raced around into our front yard eager to tell Alfie more about what I had seen. Of course, this was not my biggest adventure away from home, ny biggest adventure has it's own page!
My mother loves to learn tricks to do to my commands, so in my teenage years apart from the basics I taught her to say, 'crawl' while I crawled along the ground, and also I would lift my paw and shake hands with her, and I taught her to say 'shake' when I did this. I also began to loose pleasure from digging in the garden, which my family seeed to be pleased about. I don't know why, it's still fun. I dug in the sandpit sometimes to, which my family praised me for, I am unsure why. Well, that's basically my teenage years, to move on in my life click on 'My Early Adulthood' on my main page.
